Russell County High School ARMY JROTC JLAB Leadership Nationals Competition – Washington DC

Russell County had a great experience this summer in Washington DC participating in the annual National Competition July 19-23, 2021. Out of the 3100 programs nationally 40 were selected to compete in person for the national event. The Russell Country Team consisted of White, Alexis Hopkins, Devin Neal, and Victoria Villanueva). The competition included team and individual tasks, including out of the box thinking, Leadership Reaction Courses, Leadership in US History, and problem solving. Former Navy JROTC Cadet from WP Davidson High School, Mobile County, Alabama. WP Davidson High NJROTC hosted former SY 2018-19 NJROTC Commanding Officer Qualin WESTBROOK as the February 2021 CTE Month guest speaker for 156 in - class & virtual NJROTC cadets. Airman WESTBROOK talked about his Navy Boot Camp experience and his current training as an aviation electronics mechanic at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola Florida. Outstanding Cadet of the Year Named for the Alabama Society

Central High School, Tuscaloosa, Alabama Cadet Major Emia Sesson was named the Outstanding Cadet of the Year for the Alabama Society, Sons of the American Revolution for SY 2020-21. Cadet Sesson received the SAR Silver Outstanding Cadet Medal, certificate, and $750. Cadet Sesson also received the Bronze Award and $100 from the Black Warrior River Chapter in Tuscaloosa. Cadet Sesson will now represent Alabama at the national level in July 2021.
