In June 2021 Army Cadets gathered for the JROTC Leadership Academy. Check out the amazing opportunities our cadets experienced. From learning to work together to learning new skills, this was a unique training opportunity for cadets.

Russell County had a great experience this summer in Washington DC participating in the annual National Competition July 19-23, 2021. Out of the 3100 programs nationally 40 were selected to compete in person for the national event. The Russell Country Team consisted of White, Alexis Hopkins, Devin Neal, and Victoria Villanueva). The competition included team and individual tasks, including out of the box thinking, Leadership Reaction Courses, Leadership in US History, and problem solving. The Central High School NJROTC Red Devil Battalion is proud to congratulate Cadet Battalion Commander Christopher Snipes on his enlistment in the Army Reserves. Cadet Snipes used his NJROTC credential to enlist as an E-3 and he was awarded a $20,000 signing bonus. In addition he received a $200 GI Bill kicker and will receive $50,000 to pay off his student loan while he attends college at Auburn University. Cadet Snipes enlisted for 6 years, will serve as a Technical Engineer, and ships off to boot camp July 13, 2021 in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. [...]
Alabama represented well at the Alabama State “Above The Best” 3-Position Air Rifle Championships. Alabama's league took home 13 medals between Sparkman (8) and Fort Payne (5). Both teams did exceptionally well and their shooters are to be commended. The Stanhope Elmore High School JROTC Mustang Battalion placed 10th in the world out of over 1740 JROTC teams worldwide. Team Captain and rising senior, Braden McGee (2nd from the left), was recognized as one of only four cadets in the competition across Navy, Marines, Air Force and Amy that scored a perfect 36 on the ACT. On May 22, 612 Auburn High seniors will graduate. Some will immediately enter the work force, and some will start packing their bags for college. For senior Cammy Smith, who has lived in the same house since she was born, the future awaits in West Point, New York. When Smith found out she had been accepted into the prestigious academy earlier this year, she was speechless. The Sidney Lanier JROTC Program finished the year as strong as it begun, volunteering at the Montgomery Area Council on Aging (MACOA).The MACOA Meals Makers program offers a unique volunteer opportunity as they welcome businesses, civic organizations, Sunday school classes, and school groups to help them assemble the meals during weekday mornings.MACOA’s larger workspace in their newly renovated kitchen opened up an opportunity for a new volunteer program. The Lanier High School JROTC Team will be forever know as the first organization to officially kick off the MACOA Meals Makers program as they prepared meals for the elderly. [...]
The Carver High School Army JROTC brought their A-game to the Lee/New Century High School Drill Competition in Huntsville. The team was the Overall Winner and several cadets also brought home individual awards. Great work, team.
