Congratulations to the Mobile County JROTC cadets selected as the district’s Brigade Staff. This year’s competition was especially rigorous as the selection board interviewed 23 candidates before the making the final announcement. Senior Army Instructor Receives Honor for Service

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Chevelle Thomas, Senior Army Instructor for Murphy High School, Mobile County Public Schools on 6 April 2023 received the “The Ancient Order of Saint Gabriel Medal” for her distinguished service to the United States Army as a Public Affairs Officer, both in peacetime and while supporting combat operations overseas.  Colonel Christian Patterson, Commander, U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center presented the award.  They were deployed to Afghanistan September 2008 through September 2009 in support of the Global War on Terrorism where they were responsible for telling the Army’s story to the United States and International communities abroad. Army JROTC Cadets and Alumni from Decatur High School Serve as Pallbearers.

Army JROTC Cadets and Alumni from Decatur HS serve as pallbearers at the request of a local hero SGT George F. Mills and his family.  SGT George Mills was a WW 2 Veteran and former POW who was a close fried and mentor to the JROTC Cadets.  SGT Mills awarded over 200 medals to North Alabama JROTC Cadets until he passed away at the age of 100 years.

Russell County High School ARMY JROTC JLAB Leadership Nationals Competition – Washington DC

Russell County had a great experience this summer in Washington DC participating in the annual National Competition July 19-23, 2021. Out of the 3100 programs nationally 40 were selected to compete in person for the national event. The Russell Country Team consisted of White, Alexis Hopkins, Devin Neal, and Victoria Villanueva). The competition included team and individual tasks, including out of the box thinking, Leadership Reaction Courses, Leadership in US History, and problem solving.
